WSQ Make Basic Breads

Course Objectives

Once you master the art of baking, making homemade bread is as simple as 1,2,3. This unit will equip with the knowledge and application skills on how to make basic breads like Brioche, Stollen, White bread, Baguette, Roasted Oats Courgette and Pesto Pumpkin Over Loaf.

Methods of Learning

Mini lectures with presentations to explain concepts and theories
Practical activities including demonstrations, hands-on practice and observation
Mutual sharing, discussion and feedback.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain and choose the right bread-baking tools, equipment and ingredients
  • Explain and demonstrate the accurate weighing of bread ingredients
  • Explain and process bread dough with control of time and temperature
  • Explain and prepare pre-mix, frozen and baked-off bread products
  • Use bread knives correctly
  • Present proper bread/ingredient storing and bread cooling methods
  • Demonstrate basic work hygiene and kitchen safety practices in accordance with Food and Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Requirements

Minimum Entry Requirement

No formal qualification - Participants should have the ability to converse, read & write in English.

  • Wear Long/Full Pants
  • Have Clean, Short, Trimmed, Natural Nails (No nailpolish, gelish or artificial nails)
