On completion of this unit, the learner will be able to carry out the required task with competency in using the knowledge and skills acquired to prepare and serve speciality coffee. There will be 8 hours of interactive online activities covering essential aspects of the processes and procedures required before applying them through hands-on activities throughout the 2-day face-to-face session in the classroom.
Interactive online activities such as mini-quizes, forums and discussions
Mini lectures with presentations to explain concepts and theories
Practical activities including demonstrations, hands-on practice and observation
Mutual sharing, discussion and feedback
Describe and recommend coffee products
Grind and brew coffee
Prepare and serve espresso
Prepare and serve cappuccino and latte
All food and service personnel who are responsible for preparing barista coffee and anyone who has the passion to upgrade and work in the Food and Beverage industry
Participants should have a minimum: - GCE N Level pass in English (Grade 1 to 5) or equivalent, or - ES WSQ Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 5 or equivalent, and where applicable - GCE N Level pass in Mathematics (Grade 1 to 5), or - ES WSQ Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 5 or equivalent - Participants who do not meet the above requirements will be required to go through a short interview.
