Overview

1-day short programme to introduce local rice-based main course dishes that are high in protein and calcium.

Main course dishes to be taught have been taken from various Health Promotion Board (HPB) recipes and are suitable for all ages. Dishes are all high in protein and calcium, making it especially suitable for the elderly and growing children.

Participants will also be introduced to basic food nutrients and their functions based on Health Promotion Board (HPB) Healthy Plate guide to healthy eating.  

Course Objective

At the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

Understand the functions of nutrients found in the 5 major food groups from Health Promotion Board’s (HPB) healthy plate

Use recommended ingredients to prepare rice-based main course that are high in protein and calcium.

          Chicken and Brown Rice Spicy Soup

          Laksa Fried Rice

          Nasi Kuning

The programme will be delivered through lectures, show & tell, demonstration and hands-on practise.
